Tip 9: Beauty Hunting

by Dec 16, 2024How To Like Your Body

If you’re new to this journey, we recommend you start HERE.

Were you able to stop and practice gratitude a few times over a few days last week?

If not – just take a step back and try again this week before moving on.

If so, how did it impact your mood or frame of mind?

One of the benefits of establishing a gratitude practice is that it raises your “gratitude radar,” and you begin to take greater notice of the good things in your life. And that improves your emotional well-being and builds resilience.

Sometimes, a gratitude practice can feel forced in the beginning, but with regular and intentional practice, it becomes a natural part of your thinking and mindset. We hope it’s a practice you continue.

So, this week we’re introducing another embodiment practice. It’s called Beauty Hunting.

Just as the name implies, Beauty Hunting is the active process of looking for things around you that inspire awe. There are so many awesome and beautiful things around us every day, but we have to be intentional about shutting down distracting thoughts, to-do lists, and whatever else is keeping us from taking notice.

Actively searching for awe-inspiring, beautiful things around you will open your mind to different forms of beauty and broaden your definition of what’s beautiful. It’s way too easy to accept the restricted, commercial beauty ideal that is, by design, unattainable. Instead, we have to actively take time to recognize beauty in all its different forms so we can build a more realistic and authentic standard of beauty which helps us see ourselves and others in a truer, better light.

So, here’s this week’s 1 thing to do:

Take a few minutes each day for a beauty hunt.

Slow down, be present, search for and notice the beauty around you.

Soak it in.

Enjoy.

Be grateful (since you have a gratitude practice now 😉)

Make note of it – mentally, or keep a list in your journal.

What’s beautiful or awe-inspiring to you? ✨

We’ll want to know next week!

“The power of finding beauty in the humblest things makes home happy and life lovely.”
