Tip 5: Picture This

To reflect on last week’s tip: how many of the puzzle pieces mentioned appearance related descriptions? Did you include height? Weight? Wrinkles? Cellulite? 

Probably not. 
Because those things aren’t who you are. 

Building better body confidence – more commonly referred to as body image –  is about seeing yourself for ALL that you are; it’s NOT about your image at all. In fact, body image is honestly a horrible term. We’d love to remove it from everyone’s vocabulary.

Here’s why: talking about body image keeps our focus on the IMAGE – how we feel about the way we look or how we think others see us. But what really drives our confidence and body appreciation is connecting fully with our body – to FEEL with it, DO things with it, SAY things through it, and CARE for it. 

So, will you join us in dropping the IMAGE?  
(wouldn’t that be a great campaign? #DropTheImage) 

Instead, we can lean into using our body with intention, purpose, and for fun. 

Getting INTO your body in this way is the basis of a powerful theory called EMBODIMENT – and THAT’S where we’re headed on this journey.

If that sounds hard, it’s not – it’s just a practice. 

That means you can’t just READ about it. You have to do the things.

So, stick with us. Every week, you’ll be getting another step closer to making that shift to #BeEmbodied

Here’s TIP #5: Your one thing to do this week – just do some thinking…

What if you had grown up with no self-consciousness –  ZERO body dissatisfaction –  complete confidence in yourself? How would your life or you be different?

How would your teen & young adult years have been different? 

Would your relationships have been different?

Would you have participated in different activities?

Would you have accomplished different things? 

How would you be different today? 

It’s also a great exercise to imagine what it would look like for your daughter to grow up as a fully embodied young woman who enjoys how her body lets her experience life, but doesn’t stress over how she looks. 

It’s totally possible.

That’s the focus of our new class for girls, and that’s where we want to take you, too.

Keep working on letting your body FEEL things.

Keep thinking about what a fully embodied woman looks like.
