Tip 4: Pieces of You

by Nov 12, 2024How To Like Your Body

If you’re new to this journey, we recommend you start HERE.

How were your showers last week? Did you allow yourself a few moments to just FEEL the sensations?

Learning to tune into your senses and focus on what your body is feeling is an important practice in becoming more connected to your body – your home. We’ll explore this connection more in future tips, but for now, we want you to recognize the difference between being IN your body versus IN your head. Hopefully, the grounding, sensory experience you allowed yourself to have in the shower was a helpful start.

This week, we want to share a tool that can help you see yourself differently and boost your body connection and comfort.

Tip 4: Here’s your ONE THING to do this week:

In your journal or on a piece of paper, draw a large circle or square. Inside that shape, draw new shapes, like puzzle pieces, and label them to represent all of who you are.

The goal is to include the things you would want someone to know about you if you wanted them to know you well – all the pieces of you. Think about your favorite traits, important roles you fill (i.e. mother, volunteer, teacher), passions, experiences that have shaped you, accomplishments, goals for your future.

Take your time and add to it througout the week if you want. Each time you look over the drawing, remind yourself to see ALL the pieces of who you are and all that you offer.
